1. Am I eligible to vote?

You may register to vote in Minnesota if you:

• will be at least 18 years old on Election Day and are a citizen of the United States;
• will have resided in Minnesota for 20 days immediately preceding Election Day, and maintain residence at the address given on the registration form;
• have any felony conviction record discharged, expired, or completed;
• are not under court-ordered guardianship where a court has revoked your voting rights; and
• have not been ruled legally incompetent by a court of law.

2. How do I sign up to serve as an election judge?

Ramsey County is now running all of Little Canada's elections.  Election Judges assigned to Little Canada precinct locations will now work for Ramsey County.

3. How do I pre-register to vote?

Unregistered residents are encouraged to pre-register to vote prior to election day in order to save time at the polls. Pre-registration must be completed 20 days prior to an election. 

You can find the Voter Registration Form online or at Little Canada City Center. You can also register online.

4. How do I find my voting precinct?

Little Canada has three voting precincts as listed below.  View our Precinct Map (PDF) to see which precinct you live in. 

PRECINCT 1 votes at Roseville Area Middle School, 15 County Road B2.

PRECINCT 2 votes at Little Canada Elementary School, 400 Eli Road.

PRECINCT 3 votes at Little Canada City Center, 515 Little Canada Road East.

5. How do I obtain an absentee ballot?

Voters no longer need a reason for voting prior to Election Day.  You can vote absentee either in person or through the mail.  

You can apply online for an absentee ballot by completing the online Absentee Ballot Request. Once you have completed the online application, the ballot will be mailed to the address requested.

You can also request an absentee ballot application by calling the Ramsey County Elections Office at 651-266-2171, and the application will be mailed to you. Complete & return the paper application to the Ramsey County Elections Office as soon as possible so that there is sufficient time to mail the ballot to you.  

In-person absentee voting is available Monday-Friday during business hours at:

Ramsey County Elections Office - 90 W. Plato Blvd, St. Paul, MN  55107 and other locations throughout Ramsey County.

Voting before Election Day is no longer available at Little Canada City Hall.

6. How do I check the status of my absentee ballot?

7. When and where can I vote absentee?

In-person absentee voting can be Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ramsey County Elections Office at 90 W. Plato Boulevard, St. Paul, MN.  Other county voting locations will also be available.

Voting before Election Day is no longer be available at Little Canada CIty Hall.

8. Does my employer have to give me time off to vote?

Yes.  According to Section 204C.04 of the Minnesota Election Law, every employee who is eligible to vote in an election has the right to be absent from work for the purpose of voting during the morning of the day of that election, without penalty or deduction from salary or wages because of the absence.  An employer or other person may not directly or indirectly refuse, abridge, or interfere with this right or any other election right of an employee. A person who violates this law is guilty of a misdemeanor, and the county attorney shall prosecute the violation.

Included elections are the regularly scheduled state primary or general election, an election to fill a vacancy in the office of United States senator or United States representative, or an election to fill a vacancy in the office of state senator or state representative.

9. I'm worried about long lines on election day. Will I be able to vote?

All voters who are in line at their polling place on Election Day by 8:00 p.m. will be able to vote.  Those arriving after 8:00 p.m. will be turned away.

10. How can I view the names of candidates and questions that will be on the ballot for my precinct?

11. Can I take a ballot to deliver to someone who is in the hospital?

An individual who is in a hospital, health care facility, residential facility, shelter for battered women, assisted living facility, home bound, or would have difficulty getting to the polls because of incapacitating health reasons or a disability qualifies to request agent delivery of an absentee ballot.  

Up to seven days prior to Election Day, the individual must submit the Absentee Ballot Application (PDF) and also designate an agent by completing the Request for Agent Delivery of Absentee Ballot (PDF). Once we receive the completed forms and verify the identity of the agent, we can issue the ballot to the agent for delivery to the voter.  An agent can only receive and deliver ballots for up to three voters in any one election.  Ballots must be returned to the Ramsey County Elections Office at 90 W. Plato Blvd, St. Paul, MN no later than 3:00 p.m. on Election Day.

14. How do I file to run for an office in a Municipal Election?

Residents interested in running for office must complete an application and pay a $2 filing fee at Little Canada City Center.  Applications are only accepted during the designated filing period.

15. Where is the nearest DMV so I can correct the address on my driver's license?

Little Canada City Hall does not have a license bureau.  However, the cities of Roseville and White Bear Lake provide these services. For additional information, visit the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services.
